The Gretna boys and girls track team got the 2018 season underway on Friday, March 16 as they competed in the Ne- braska Wesleyan Indoor Meet. The Gretna boys finished 6th as a team with a score of 34 while the girls finished 7th with a score of 33.33.
The boys team was led by three second place finishes. Byron Moore was the runner-up in the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.17, and Coy Peterson fin- ished second in the pole vault with a vault of 11’6. The final second place finish came at the hand of the 3200m relay team of Nate Harmon, Ben Jacobson, Ben Randall, and Luke Pinkall who finished second with a time of 8:57.29. Cade Suing snagged 3rd in the 3200m run with a time of 10:39.36, and Tristan Duin was 4th in the triple jump with a
leap of 38’11 to round out the Gretna boys team.
On the girls side the Dragons also were led by two second place finishes. Karlie Kuhn finished second in the high jump with a jump of 4’ 10. Teammates Isabel Henson and Aurora Gissler finished 5th and 6th with jumps of 4’10 and 4’8 respectively. The other runner-up finish came from Mazie Larsen who took second in the 1600m run with a time of 5:34.81.
The last four medals for the girls came from the 1600m relay team of Mazie Larsen, Maddi Haddix, Kayla Adams, and Rachel Walters who finished 3rd with a time of 4:31.22, Nicole Everhart who tied for 4th in the pole vault with a height of 7’0, Kaylle Moore who was 4th in the 800m run with a time of 2:34.7, and Allison Kibby who was 6th in the triple jump with a distance of 29’ 9.5.
