A new concession stand planned at the Bennington Elementary School stadium will be constructed later than anticipated, as members of the Board of Education rejected all submitted bids for the project received from area contractors.

Courtney Patterson of Elkhorn has been chosen to be a Week of Welcome (WOW) Ambassador for Wayne State College (WSC). A select number of students are interviewed and offered the position of WOW Ambassador, based on academic, co-curricular and civic qualities.

Fremont Health will provide free skin cancer screenings from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at Fremont Health Medical Center’s Health Park Plaza, 450 East 23rd Street in Fremont. Screenings will be performed by Deb Baker, APRN, and are offered by appointment only.

Thanks to immunizations, there are a number of diseases you hardly ever hear about any more. Smallpox, for instance, has been mostly eradicated by vaccines. Polio is rarely even mentioned these days.

Several deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Rosewater Parkway in the Heritage neighborhood in Bennington Tuesday afternoon, July 3, after a resident got into an argument with an individual laying sod at another home.
