As temperatures rose above 95 degrees on a recent Wednesday afternoon, middle schooler Addie Reser escaped into a cool, quiet back room at the Valley Public Library. Addie enlisted the help of a friend to try to solve a series of puzzles within an hour in Open the Box.

The Exchange Club of Omaha is a non-profit organization involved in many good works such as prevention of child abuse and highway cleanup. Each year, they recognize outstanding sophomores in every metro high school. This student excels academically, athletically, in character and community service.

This Saturday will offer an opportunity to be part of a movement going across the country honoring fallen heroes, but also to honor four Waterloo heroes, to witness patriotism on display and to hear the debut of a new song for the Honor & Remember national recognition of fallen heroes.
